Wow, It's been awhile since I've visited my blog. We've had some handsome cria this year and a fabulous garden. I don't know if we spend more time in the garden or out in the pastures with these lovely alpacas.I'll just put some pics up for your perusal!

Sired by Wisp of Smoke from Alpacas of Somerset Farms, Annie delivered a beautiful black boy this morning. Her first birth and all went well. 17 lbs & healthy. It's easy to see he's already dense & crimpy!! A big boned boy like his sire.

Returned home from the wonderful presentation at the Calpaca meeting to find this little girl waiting for me....a Vantaggio look alike! Fortunately all went well and no assistance was needed cause she was home alone!

LV Coffee Cake is a sweet black girl sired by Vantaggio.She headed off to a new home and wish her new owners luck.Stay in touch!! We'll be looking forward to updates as she grows.

Great day today!! Lots of help. Having a husband, son & family friend that all shear, we get together & shear part of the herd earlier in the year before they all hit the road for the shearing season. Everyone gets in on the action. Hard work, great food, great friends and happy alpacas!

Today is Halter training day. Sera (the smallest black) is an old hand - already being in two shows. Harlie (the grey) isn't thrilled but stayed with the group. Today was only her second try at the walking on halter. Coffee - the larger black came along just fine.What a gorgeous group! All sired by LV Vantaggio.

Another Vantaggio cria! Born two days ago, we weren't sure what to expect breeding grey over fawn.He's certainly a gorgeous dark brown color!

She's not an alpaca but last year, life was different after losing our 17 year old border collie Lady.We watched the rescue sites thinking we could provide a new home when we found out a 3 year old beauty was turned in at our vet's office.She has a lot to learn but we hope "Roxy" will soon settle in nicely. Life has not been good to her.We hope we can change that. She has lots of energy and is anxious to learn.

A couple more of these lovely alpacas sired by LV Vantaggio.We ended up with some lovely variation of grey colored cria to add to the blacks born earlier.

We've had a great time watching as all the cria sired by LV Vantaggio have arrived in September & October.Here's a nice little group of them enjoying the unusually warm November day. I may be biased but I think they are the cutest alpacas in Northern California!

Every year at Haven Humane, there is a two week camp that teaches the kids to work with some of the dogs & cats that will be adopted. To introduce them to other animals, we were invited to bring a couple of the alpacas.All in all, both the kids and the alpacas did very well. Everyone got to pet the alpacas and we showed lots of product which was fun for the kids as well. We gave everyone bits of fiber that they could "spin" into a bit of yarn by rolling it on their legs.
